ATLANTA, GA — Monday is Presidents Day, or, officially, Washington’s Birthday in the United States. As such, many schools, offices and government buildings in and around Atlanta will be closed to observe the day.
Presidents Day always falls on the third Monday of February. This year, the holiday is on Monday, Feb. 19. Here’s a look at what’s going to be open and what’s going to be closed for the day this year.
Most branches of the Atlanta-Fulton County Library system will be closed.Most banks will be closed.Atlanta Public Schools will be closed for students. It is a teacher professional learning day. Fulton County schools also will be closed.Atlanta City Hall will be closed.MARTA rail and bus service will run on normal schedules.Post offices will be closed.Most retail stores will be open, with many promoting Presidents Day sales.Monday will not be a state holiday. Georgia government offices will be open, with Washington’s birthday officially observed Dec. 24.
